Sixteen children were rescued from a neglected home in a small village in Ohio, United States, after authorities said they had been kept for a significant portion of the past four years in one room under conditions described as 'appalling.' The children, ranging in age from 18 months to 18 years, were found in a home in the village of Hamden in Vinton County, in the southeastern part of the state, living in severe filth, surrounded by human feces and extremely unsanitary conditions. Police arrested the children's parents, as well as their grandparents. Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson described what was revealed to investigators as 'pure evil' and said it was one of the most difficult scenes he had encountered in his entire career.
