U.S. court convicts Ryan Routh of attempted assassination of Trump last year

The court convicted Ryan Routh (59) of attempted murder, after he was caught hiding in bushes near a golf course in Florida, lying in wait for U.S. President Donald Trump. Prosecutors argued that Routh had planned for weeks to kill Trump. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote on her X account that "the verdict demonstrates the Justice Department's commitment to punish anyone who engages in political violence." A Secret Service agent identified Routh and fired at him just as he was raising his rifle.
