The number of unpaid leave days required for workers to qualify for unemployment benefits is expected to drop to a minimum of 10 consecutive days instead of 14 as proposed by the Treasury. This is emerging now during tonight's discussion on the unpaid leave framework taking place in the Knesset Labor and Welfare Committee, chaired by MK Michal Waldiger. In the heated discussion, it was agreed that in any case the unpaid leave days will be reduced from 14, and the proposal to reduce them to 12 days is currently expected to drop to only 10 consecutive days. In recent days, the 14-day framework has been challenged by all organizations representing workers including the Histadrut, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and self-employed organizations.
