Shas, United Torah Judaism and Jewish Power announced they will support the Western Wall bill to be voted on Wednesday. "This is how it was in the past and this is how it will be now," the joint statement said. According to the bill, all areas of the Western Wall will be subject to the policy of the Chief Rabbis of Israel and prayer will be conducted there according to Orthodox custom only. This comes against the backdrop of a High Court ruling that the state must act to connect 'Ezrat Yisrael,' a southern plaza intended to serve all those who wish to pray in a non-Orthodox manner, to the Western Wall stones. This is in accordance with the directive of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from June 2017.
