Hamas and Islamic Jihad have agreed to form an 'unexpected electoral coalition' with former Fatah senior official and adviser to the UAE president Mohammed Dahlan. This was stated by Mohammed al-Hindi, deputy secretary-general of Islamic Jihad, to the AP news agency. According to the report, the coalition they will form could threaten the dominance of Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen, only if elections are held in the Palestinian Authority for the first time in 20 years. Abu Mazen has previously announced elections in the Authority, but has repeatedly postponed them when it appeared Fatah was heading for defeat.
