IDF Spokesman, Brig. Gen. Ephraim Defrin, said in a statement that "The IDF is acting decisively to protect Israeli citizens and prevent harm to the Druze population. In Damascus, we attacked the General Staff headquarters and the Presidential Palace area." Defrin emphasized that "We will not allow southern Syria to become a terrorist stronghold. I address the Druze and say that we are committed to them and their security. I ask that they observe the law."
