Police watchdog investigating alleged violence against ultra-Orthodox protesters at Geha Junction demonstration last week

|
The Police Internal Investigations Department has opened an investigation into suspected violence against protesters, after officers were documented beating demonstrators with batons during last week's extremist ultra-Orthodox protest at Geha Junction. At that demonstration, about 10 protesters were evacuated to hospitals in mild to moderate condition, and in some of the footage protesters can be seen bleeding from their heads. Police reported that one officer was injured in the head from stones thrown by protesters and another officer broke his ribs. In the past 24 hours, protesters have been summoned to give testimony at the department's offices.
