The Magistrate's Court in Kfar Saba ruled that right-wing activist Ido Shifoni must pay approximately 140,000 shekels ($40,000) in damages to IDF Reserve Major General Israel Ziv over a conspiracy theory he published about him. The ruling concludes a defamation lawsuit filed by Ziv against Shifoni in January 2025, in which he sought compensation of 328,000 shekels ($93,000). The background to the lawsuit is a tweet Ziv published in December 2024, in which he described how he, along with Reserve Major Generals Noam Tibon and Yair Golan, rushed south on the morning of October 7, 2023, to help rescue civilians, in contrast to those who he said fled to hide. Shifoni responded to the tweet with a rhetorical question that implied, according to Ziv, that he and his colleagues knew in advance about the timing of the attack and even linked Ziv to a 'spy.'
