Portugal pulled off a comeback with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Croatia in the Round of 32, scoring through substitute Gonçalo Ramos in the 94th minute. In the 102nd minute, deep into stoppage time, Croatia appeared to equalize at 2-2 – but the goal was disallowed for offside. Ivan Perišić gave his team the lead in the 53rd minute, but a quarter of an hour later Portugal was awarded a controversial penalty, which Cristiano Ronaldo converted to level the score – before the eventual winner came.
