Shin Bet Director David Barnea warned last night during a cabinet meeting, which discussed terror threats from Gaza and Judea and Samaria, about a serious security situation in the Negev. According to Barnea, "There are places in the Bedouin diaspora with military infrastructures and attempts to establish military-like battalions - a very concerning phenomenon." The Shin Bet chief added that these are infrastructures "that we are thwarting all the time." According to Barnea, these military battalions - being established by Bedouin residents in the Negev, a short drive from Be'er Sheva, Dimona and other communities in the area - have a "concerning connection" to terror organizations like Hamas, partly because many of them marry women from the Gaza Strip and Judea and Samaria.
