The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court extended by four days the detention of crime boss Ismail Jarushi, a Ramla resident, who was arrested yesterday on suspicion of operating the SSQ gang youth in the south of the city, who extorted a currency exchange owner through threats, and shot at the business when he did not comply with the extortion. Jarushi was on the run but turned himself in to the police when he realized he had been discovered. As part of the investigation, indictments have already been filed against 12 members of the gang, also known as the "Shapira cell," and against members of other gangs. They were charged with extortion of protection money and shooting and threatening the life of a business owner, and the same suspicions are attributed to Jarushi.
