32 months in prison and 18-year license revocation for minibus driver who fatally struck motorcyclist in Negev

The Beer Sheva Traffic Court sentenced Eliyahu Shriki (71), a minibus driver, to 32 months in prison and revoked his license for 18 years after he hit and caused the death of motorcyclist Yaron Hanover (58). According to the indictment, in 2022 Shriki was driving a minibus with 13 passengers when, while traveling on a single-lane road near the Eshkolim Junction in the Negev, he attempted a dangerous overtaking maneuver past a long convoy of vehicles. He then struck an oncoming motorcyclist, causing his immediate death, severe injuries to one of the minibus passengers and additional injuries to the other passengers. He was convicted of negligent manslaughter, reckless driving and causing substantial bodily harm.
