Kamchatka earthquake: Power grid in Sakhalin Island damaged, supply cut off

The power grid in Russia's Sakhalin Island, near the Kamchatka Peninsula in the east of the country, was damaged as a result of powerful earthquakes that occurred in the area. Following the damage, the power supply to the island was cut off. This was reported by the RIA news agency citing the governor of Sakhalin region Valery Limarenko. Additionally, authorities in Russia's Northern Kuril Islands district announced that "all residents have been evacuated to a tsunami-safe area."
