Yarden Zamir, father of Staff Sergeant Asaf Zamir who was killed by an anti-tank missile in Khan Yunis, shared in an interview with ynet studio that "Asaf was a pure child who insisted on joining the Armored Corps. His hobby was music, he had a thing for vinyl records." Zamir recounted that "He would come back from the army glowing. I begged him to become a squad commander. I wanted to keep him away from the sector. I told him 'You'll have four months of training course, I'll have peace of mind.' He told me 'Are you serious, dad? We have hostages in Gaza, do you think I would go to Shizafon when I can enter Gaza?'".
