VAT exemption for packages up to $150 takes effect: High Court declines to issue order against the move

|
The Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce petitioned the High Court against the VAT exemption for packages up to $150, but the court refused to issue an interim order and the exemption went into effect. Although no order has been issued at this time, the court will discuss the matter and has instructed the state to respond to the petition within a week. This means that as of this morning, it is permitted to import products with VAT exemption up to the amount of $150. Customs officials will check, as usual, some of the packages to ensure that products priced higher than the newly established threshold are not being imported. The Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce explained through the Firon law firm that the Federation does not oppose personal imports but advocates for fair competition that will not harm local businesses.
