A senior British Home Office official visited Israel to discuss the closure of the embassy in East Jerusalem. This was reported by several sources to the Reuters news agency. The visit took place last week and the sides did not reach understandings that would prevent the closure of the consulate. A spokesperson for Israel's Foreign Ministry told Reuters in response that the consulate will close on Thursday as planned. Earlier, it was reported on Ynet that Britain is considering expelling Israeli diplomats from London if Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar does not cancel the closure of the consulate.
