A group of Democratic senators in the United States has introduced legislation to impose sanctions on any person, company or entity involved in promoting, financing or transferring civilians as part of the E1 construction project. Senator Chris Coons said that 'as Palestinian civilians face a campaign of destruction and fear from violent extremist settlers, the United States must send a strong message that this behavior is unacceptable and that it remains committed to freedom, security, prosperity and self-determination for all Israelis and Palestinians.'
