Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida, a vocal supporter of Israel in Congress, announced that she would no longer accept corporate political action committee contributions or donations from special-interest groups tied to foreign policy after narrowly winning reelection in Tuesday's midterm elections.
Luna, whose campaign received about $38,000 in direct contributions from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee's political action committee, said she wanted constituents to know that her positions in Washington were not influenced by donors. "I am controlled by no one, influenced by no one," she said in a video posted on X.
Her announcement comes amid growing debate over pro-Israel political spending and U.S. policy toward Israel, following election victories by several Democratic candidates who oppose military aid to Israel.
