|
Exit polls in the Australian election showed a decisive victory for incumbent Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who became the first to win an additional term in 21 years.
Opposition leader Peter Dutton conceded defeat, saying: "We didn't do enough in this campaign, I take full responsibility. I called Albanese to congratulate him, this is a historic achievement for Labor."
Albanese thanked his voters after the victory and said that "The Australian people voted for Australian values, for what unites us. In a time of global uncertainty, voters chose optimism."
