MDA volunteer injured in shell explosion assists colleagues: 'I performed CPR until the paramedic arrived'

|
Yair Frankental, 15, a youth volunteer with Magen David Adom (MDA), was among the students lightly injured yesterday in a shell explosion on the northern border. He recounted that "I felt that I was also injured, but I started checking who needed help. The other boys called the emergency hotline and I began providing medical treatment to one of the boys who was very seriously injured. I noticed he had no pulse and was not breathing, so I performed CPR on him until an MDA paramedic arrived. My younger brother, who was also on the trip, was injured by shrapnel. A friend of his who was next to him helped stop the bleeding and I instructed him on how to proceed so I could move on to help someone who was more seriously injured."
