Maccabi blocked LGBTQ+ parents from accessing their children's medical records without notice

|
LGBTQ+ parents claim that Maccabi health fund blocked their access to their children's medical records without any prior notice. Maccabi claims this is a change resulting from Amendment 13 to the Privacy Protection Law, which does not allow the health fund to disclose a minor's medical information to anyone not defined as a parent in the Population Registry. From inquiries the parents made with health fund representatives, it was conveyed that following a 'version update' and compliance with the Privacy Protection Law, access was restricted to the biological parent only. Subsequently, a Maccabi representative clarified that the parents must go to a branch and re-register to prove they are the parents of their children.
