Report: Houthis holding 73 UN staff as hostages in Yemen

|
Saudi television network Al Arabiya reported, citing Yemeni media sources, that the UN Department of Safety and Security has notified all its employees in Sanaa and other Houthi-controlled areas that their employment contracts will be terminated starting March 31. The UN is taking a step similar to that of the World Food Programme at the end of last January, amid escalating Houthi activity against UN staff. It was also reported that the Houthis are still holding 73 UN employees as hostages, including approximately 50 workers from the World Food Programme and the Department of Safety and Security.
