A preliminary investigation revealed that the fire at the Bnei Brak nursing home, in which 24 people were injured, allegedly broke out after an elderly man in his 80s lit a cigarette near an oxygen tank. The elderly man was evacuated in serious condition, but his condition has deteriorated and is now defined as critical.
