The U.S. State Department announced that the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip is expected to take years and warned that implementing President Donald Trump's peace plan will involve significant difficulties. In a statement issued by department spokesperson Tommy Pigott marking one year since the Sharm el-Sheikh peace summit, it was stated that 'Gaza's reconstruction will be a difficult process that will take years, and implementing the plan will be complex. However, we are making tangible progress toward a demilitarized Gaza, where Palestinians can live without Hamas rule and Israel can enjoy real and lasting security over time.'
