The Jerusalem District Court rejected the police appeal and ordered the release of bus driver Fakhri Khatib, who fatally ran over teenager Yosef Eisental during a Haredi protest in Jerusalem about a week ago. The police representative said during the hearing: "We are talking about 258 incidents of bus driver attacks. Ultimately, yes, we see such incidents every day, we are addressing the phenomenon and also arresting suspects. In much more serious incidents where drivers were injured, no one thought of accelerating and driving through the crowd, hitting people." Judge Hagit Mark Kalmanowitz rejected the appeal, writing: "I did not find that house arrest is particularly essential for the continuation of the investigation."
