Police seek to investigate Zini's father after recording wishing 'Supreme Court would explode'

Police have requested authorization in recent days to investigate Rabbi Yosef Zini, the father of David Zini, following recordings published about him on Channel 13 earlier this month, ynet has learned. Police examined the recordings, in which he wished among other things for the Supreme Court to "explode," and requested to investigate Zini for threatening offenses. The police's Investigations and Intelligence Division is preparing a special assessment due to his public status as a rabbi. The decision whether to open an investigation will be made by the head of the Investigations Division and the State Prosecutor's Office, following standard procedure for matters that may fall under "freedom of expression." In the recordings, Zini's father is heard saying: "If I heard Ahmad Tibi saying 'I am the sovereign' and I had a weapon - I would finish the sovereign, the sovereign upon him" and also "may the Supreme Court explode, may it burn speedily in our days."
