Senior security official warns ultra-Orthodox community amid arrests on suspicion of spying for Iran: 'Severe'

|
Against the backdrop of arrests of ultra-Orthodox youths on suspicion of spying for Iran, a senior security official addressed the ultra-Orthodox community with a warning against recruitment attempts by the Islamic Republic online, aiming to raise awareness of the severity of the actions: "At first, Israelis who are in contact with the Iranians carry out tasks that in their eyes are not harmful, such as photographing streets and hanging signs, and eventually continue and carry out severe security missions. Raising awareness among the ultra-Orthodox community is very important for the sake of eradicating the phenomenon and understanding by those youths that such contact can destroy their lives. This constitutes a severe security offense, and accordingly those youths who were charged are currently in security detention until the completion of proceedings against them."
