Former hostage Sasha Trofimov responded to a video showing captive Rom Breslavsky, with whom he spent part of his time in captivity, writing that "we were exposed to difficult images of Rom's current condition and I couldn't believe it was the same person I saw more than a year ago. The faith and strength I saw in his eyes then have been replaced by sadness, depression and helplessness." According to him, "anyone who sees these images without heartache and wanting to do everything to get him out of there lacks compassion. Thinking about what he's going through there is inconceivable."
