Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir addressed a memorial ceremony honoring fallen soldiers of the Commando Brigade, stating that the brigade's fighters operated "in built-up and densely populated areas and in terror tunnels in Gaza; in the West Bank; and in Lebanon, they were among the first to cross the border and at the forefront of forces that crossed the Litani River, fought in Bafour and defeated Hezbollah on the Ali Taher ridge." After October 7, Zamir emphasized, "the professional and moral imperative placed upon us is to ensure that the lessons remain before our eyes forever. We will act to destroy our enemy's capabilities in advance and will not allow the formation of threats to our future." Zamir called to "expand the ranks of the IDF" in light of the shortage of fighters.
