Lebanese President Joseph Aoun addressed the contacts with Israel during a meeting with a UN delegation, saying his "goal is to stop the attacks, establish a timeline for Israeli withdrawal and fix the disputed points along the border." Aoun added: "Lebanon prefers negotiations with Israel to avoid another round of violence." Aoun also referred to the meeting between a Lebanese government representative and Israeli National Security Council officials: "The talks were mainly intended to end the attacks."
