Hungary's University of Debrecen will open a pre-clinical medical studies program in Eilat. The Council for Higher Education approved the move, marking the first time a foreign academic institution enters Israel. Ben-Gurion University, which was supposed to operate a similar program in parallel, announced it will not open the track for now and is considering its next steps. "This is a return to the era when branches of foreign universities operated in Israel and were closed due to their academic level," the university stated.
