Herzog to party leaders: 'The elections are over, stop climbing trees'

|
President Isaac Herzog said at the state memorial ceremony for Israel's first president, Chaim Weizmann, that "during an election campaign, candidates climb high trees – but the elections are over." He also said: "I hope the representatives will come with an open mind, and I add today – with an open heart – to hear and voice ideas and find creative solutions to prevent another election. The election results are an established fact – they are reality." He addressed the party leaders: "This is the time to say – stop climbing trees. This week at the President's Residence, we will try to lay down ladders to allow them to position themselves facing reality, in a measured and careful manner."
