Lebanon's PM on negotiations: 'We are not heading toward normalization, but toward peace'

|
Lebanon's Prime Minister Nawaf Salam addressed the direct negotiations with Israel, saying that while "the issue of a meeting with Netanyahu is premature," what is required is "negotiations with Israel and internal negotiations to expand the state's authority. We are not heading toward normalization, but toward peace." Salam added that "we will reconsider and reopen the plan for concentrating weapons (of Hezbollah) based on the developments of recent months. Establishing a ceasefire will be the basis for any new round of negotiations with Israel in Washington." Salam also addressed the talks between the U.S. and Iran mediated by Pakistan: "We are conducting negotiations on our own behalf, but that does not mean it is disconnected from the Islamabad track."
