The IDF began summoning about 40,000 reservists this morning for the operation to capture Gaza City, with IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir insisting to the political echelon, as reported last night on ynet, that the mobilization itself would begin on September 2. The operation, which will be brought for discussion in the cabinet in the coming days, will include the IDF's 5 regular divisions and at its peak will include 12 brigade combat teams, a relatively small number compared to the divisions that will be deployed and compared to the beginning of the war. The military estimates that at the peak of the operation this year, the IDF will have between 110,000 and 130,000 reservists who will be mobilized in three phases.
