The American War Department (formerly called the "Department of Defense") has published its strategic document for 2026. In the section dealing with Iran, the Pentagon repeated the claim that during Operation "Midnight Hammer," in which the US attacked nuclear facilities, "the Iranian nuclear program was destroyed." It also states that Iran's "Axis of Resistance" was destroyed, partly due to Israel's operations against Hezbollah and Hamas. However, it notes that Tehran is "determined to rebuild" its military capabilities, its leaders "do not rule out trying to develop nuclear weapons again" and that the US is facing "significant opportunities."
