They cited the sensitivity of the talks and Tehran's deep distrust of Washington. One official said: 'The Iranians did not appreciate that the U.S. president conducts contacts in the media, and makes it appear as if they agreed to things they have not yet agreed to, and that are unpopular among the people at home (in Iran).'
