Nobel laureate Prof. Dan Shechtman: 'The problem in education is not the children, but the teachers'

|
Professor Dan Shechtman, Nobel Prize laureate in Chemistry for 2011, said at the State's Future Conference organized by ynet, Yedioth Ahronoth and the Open University, that he is concerned about the state of education in Israel. According to him, "For decades, student results have been low, even though they are brilliant. We need quality screening for teachers and not accept just anyone. Our children have sparkling eyes unlike anywhere else in the world, they are brilliant. So what's wrong? The answer is - the teachers." He also called for establishing large civilian research centers to bring back Israeli minds from abroad.
