Police clarify commissioner's directive: Military police didn't arrive within 30 minutes? Deserter will be released

|
Following the Ynet report on Police Commissioner Danny Levy's directive "to detain every deserter and transfer them to the military police for further handling," police clarified that officers were actually instructed "to detain the deserter, report to the military police and wait with the detainee until a representative from the Military Police Criminal Investigation Division arrives, who is required to arrive within 30 minutes of the report. If a military police representative does not arrive, the deserter will be released and given a summons by the officer to report to the military police." Police further claimed that "the commissioner's directive was issued at the beginning of the month and was emphasized today to the national chief superintendent."
