White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Monday, that Donald Trump's comments on his social media platform on Sunday, were antisemitic.
In her briefing to reporters, Jean-Pierre said Trump's comments were antisemitic and insulting to "both American Jews and to our Israeli allies," she said.
"But let's be clear for years now Donald Trump has aliened with extremists and antisemitic figures," she said. "We need to root out antisemitism everywhere. It rears its ugly head. We need to call this out, she said.
The spokesperson said that with respect to Israel, the U.S.'s relations is ironclad and is rooted in shared values and interests.
"Donald Trump clearly does not understand that either," she said.
The former president claimed Jewish voters were ungrateful.
"No President has done more for Israel,” wondering why “our wonderful Evangelicals are far more appreciative of this than the people of the Jewish faith, especially those living in the U.S,” Trump said.
Sunday's post was not the first time Trump has come out against American Jews. Even before he lost the 2020 presidential elections to Joe Biden, he complained on numerous occasions about the low rate of support from the Jewish community.
