The London based Asharq Al-Awsat news paper reported on Monday that Iraqi officials said no evidence was found of an Israeli presence in Irbil in the north of the country, after Iran claimed it had struck "secret Israeli bases" there.
According to the report, ahead of the attack Iran complained to the Iraqi government about the activity of Iranian dissidents in the region.
Only after attacking Irbil, the report said, did Iran claim the Israeli Mossad was operating from a residence there.
The house, which the Iranians said was used as a training base, belongs to a Kurdish business man.
