Coalition pushes through with legislation blitz

Sivan Hilaie|
The coalition on Thursday continued pushing forward its legislation blitz after approving two bills that are meant to shore up its stability for second and third hearings in the Knesset plenum.
One bill would allow a lawmaker who has been convicted of a crime and is on probation to hold a ministerial position. The proposal is set to serve Shas leader Arye Deri who was convicted of tax evasion last year.
The other legislation would allow two government ministers to head the same ministry simultaneously, allowing Religious Zionist party leader Bezalel Smotrich to be appointed an additional minister in the Defense Ministry.
