Hamas made "minor changes" to the deal proposed by mediators for a hostage release in exchange for a cease-fire, The New York Times reported early on Tuesday quoting American officials. They said Hamas gave a "serious" response to the proposal and the ball was now in Israel's court. In the report the officials said that after the first phase of the deal, efforts would be made to achieve "sustainable calm," a term likely to prompt pushback.
