Supreme Court Justice Daphne Barak-Erez emphasized during Tuesday’s hearing that the government’s decision to dismiss Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar must rest on a solid factual basis.
“The decision must be based on a factual foundation that was presented to those expected to weigh in, after which the government may make its decision in accordance with proper procedure,” she said. “When we are dealing with the head of the Shin Bet, I believe everyone here would agree—it is not like any other position. We must ensure the decision was made on a proper factual foundation.”
