The Health Ministry said that 5,345 Israelis have tested positive for coronavirus since midnight Monday. After more than 110,000 tests have been conducted, the contagion rate now stands at 5.1%.
At least 708 patients are currently hospitalized in severe condition, of whom 191 are ventilated. Some 473 of the seriously ill patients (70%) appear to be unvaccinated, 149 are vaccinated with two jabs and 61 received the third booster shot.
Since the start of the pandemic, 7,555 people died from the virus in Israel, including 21 on Sunday.
