The ultra-Orthodox Shas party on Tuesday, said in a statement to the Supreme Court that preventing party leader, thrice convicted Aryeh Deri from assuming a ministerial post, would endanger the stability of the government and may cause it to fall.
The Court is due to deliberate on whether Deri should be prevented from assuming the position of minister in Benjamin Netanyahu's government.
The AG has already said appointing Deri to such a position cannot be considered within norms and cannot be defended.
She has given the government the option of obtaining outside council to defend its position.
