The Knesset plenum approved in second and third readings the Legal Aid Law for events such as scams, which will now grant eligibility for legal aid to people aged 65 and older in proceedings based on exploitation of difficulty, weakness, cognitive condition, health condition or language barriers. The assistance will be provided in lawsuits involving claims of mistake, misrepresentation, coercion, exploitation, undue influence, theft or fraud, and in proceedings under the Payment Services Law. The law stems from the fact that in recent years, scams and economic exploitation of senior citizens have become increasingly widespread.
