United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio has denied visas to Palestinian leaders who were scheduled to attend the UN General Assembly in September, according to a report by Fox News based on internal documents they obtained. The report also indicated that Rubio blocked entry visas for senior officials in the Palestinian Authority and PLO, including Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen). According to the report, the decision is based on findings that the Palestinian Authority and PLO are violating American commitments through "unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state, encouraging violence, promoting antisemitism and severely supporting terrorism." As a result, visa issuance has been prohibited for a period of at least 180 days.
