An 18-day-old baby was rescued from the rubble in Venezuela. In footage verified by the French news agency AFP, rescue teams are seen passing the baby, covered in a blanket, from hand to hand, to the sound of applause from the surrounding crowd. Eventually, the baby is handed to a shirtless man, apparently the father, who is seen kissing him on the forehead and lifting his face with a look of relief and gratitude. According to AFP, the baby was rescued unharmed after being trapped under the rubble for 32 hours, and his mother was also rescued an hour later. Britain's The Telegraph reported another stunning piece of footage showing a woman giving birth right among the ruins. Rescue efforts have entered their third day. AP reported that residents are searching through the rubble themselves, knowing that time is running out.
