As part of the hostage deal negotiations, Israel has agreed in principle that Qatar and other countries will begin channeling resources and funds for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip - already during the ceasefire. Hamas demands this as part of the guarantees that the intention to end the war is serious. Israel insists that not only Doha will transfer funds, but additional countries as well. The issue was also raised in talks held by the Qatari delegation that arrived in Washington this week, during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit there, in an attempt to advance a deal. Countries in the region, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, refuse to commit to aid in reconstruction before Israel commits to ending the war.
