The Itim organization filed a petition with the Central Elections Committee, demanding the disqualification of Shas's sixth-place candidate Dror Amos, the supervisor of the Haifa Religious Council, after he failed to resign 100 days in advance as required by law. Simultaneously, the organization is demanding that the Ministry of Religious Services immediately place him on unpaid leave. "When a system designed to provide state service to every citizen becomes a political springboard, public trust is shattered," said Rabbi Shaul Farber, chairman and founder of the organization. Attorney Yair Meborak Shah from Itim's legal department added: "The distorted norm in which a political appointee jumps with zero cooling-off days straight to his Knesset list is a slap in the face to public service."
